Natural Aizome dye is associated with ideologies of high quality and craftsmanship. Nowadays is rare to find socks and knitwear with natural aizome dye due to the very time-consuming intense production process for the yarns and high costs. For centuries aizome dye was used only on luxurious fabrics and was restricted to the feudal warlords and the elite. Over the decades the color indigo became synonymous with samurai culture.
This Limited edition Aizome dye socks have gone through a time-intensive hand-crafted production process that takes more than 1 year for the "Sukumo" composted leaves to be fermented and then 6 months in order to achieve the deep natural aizome dye without the usage of any chemicals or any synthetic indigo at all.
Nowadays only 4-5 families in Japan are still producing "Sukumo" in a traditional way.
Natural aizome dye has many health benefits and has been used for centuries to heal naturally skin problems, protect from infection, and help protect wounds. Its strong antibacterial agent provides anti-inflammatory benefits to the skin and has dirt repelling qualities.
Our Organic cotton is durable, buttery soft, breathable, comfortable to wear and will improve with time. Is grown organically from non-genetically modified plants, without the use of any harmful chemicals, and has more soft natural fibers.
